비교하는 대상과 대응하는 자리를 찾고 두 대상의 위계를 맞춥니다. 원급·비교급·최상급과 생략된 비교 기준을 확인하며 수량·빈도·정도를 구분합니다. the 비교급…the 비교급은 함께 달라지는 두 정도를 대응시켜 읽습니다. no more than·not more than, no less than·not less than에서는 수치의 상한·하한과 화자의 평가를 구별하며 개별 단어의 뜻만 더해 해석하지 않습니다.
